I was born in St. Louis, MO but grew up in a small beach town on the Florida Panhandle. Shortly after receiving my BA in English and History from the University of West Florida, I moved and lived in South Korea for several years where I taught English for Academic Purposes, World and American Literature, and Business English and Communication. This experience and my passion for teaching writing and literature led me back to the U.S. to pursue a PhD in English, which I received from Emory University in 2021. During graduate school, I closely worked with multilingual learners, including undergraduate students, graduate and postdoctoral fellows, and Emory’s visiting cohort of Tibetan Monks, on their language and communication skills. I also served as the Global Teaching Fellow at Nanjing University where I helped STEM graduate students publish their research in academic journals. My own research and published work focuses on postcolonial literature, migrant and refugee narratives, multilingualism, and border studies, topics I regularly teach in my courses at Georgia Tech. As a consultant, I enjoy learning from all of the people I encounter in the CommLab and relish the opportunity to help them communicate their ideas to others. I believe the Naugle CommLab provides a beautiful space for people to meet and learn from each other. I hope to meet you soon!
